The demolition work of the old building was completed quickly by the team of workers from the contractor and with the help of relatively good weather in this Monsoon season. On the auspicious time of 8 August 2009 at around 8 am, the piling work to lay the foundations for the new building work began after the recitation of prayers and auspicious verses by the senior monks from the Khangsten. Prayers were made for the construction work to be completed safely, smoothly and successfully for all those involved in the project. The building work is progressing very smoothly at the moment.

We are very pleased to announce that the Khangtsen has managed to raise sufficient funds for the phase 1 of its long awaited new building project - a new three stories building block with 27 monks' quarters and 3 common bathroom/toilets. The building project was awarded to an experienced building contractor based in Mysore after much deliberation among many proposals received from differentbuilding contractors. On 26 July 2009, the building work officially commenced. The demolition of a section of the old building began after the recitation of prayers and auspicious verses by some of our senior monks. We would like to express our gratitude for the support and help from Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundup, Dari Rinpoches, Geshes and all our kind sponsors; especially Geshe Thubten Chonyi and his students from Singapore. Please continue to help our new building project as we are currently still short of sufficient funds to start building the other planned 73 monks' quarters.

The monks of Tsawa Khangtsen have started since March 2009 on a daily basis, tea offering to the Khangtsen’s Dharma protector “Tao Wo” and on a weekly basis, Tara puja as well as Dharma protectors’ puja. All the merits created are dedicated for the success of the Khangtsen’s new building project and especially for the good health, long lives and general welfare of all our kind sponsors and benefactors for the new building project.

In March 2009, as advised by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundup, several fire pujas had been performed by Dari Rinpoche for the success of the new building project as well as all the Khangtsen’s new building project sponsors.
